| METHODS AND MATERIALS: |
| Starter Fertilizer Application: GoldStart 6-24-6 placed directly in-furrow. |
| Plant population: 32,984 seeds per acre. |
| Nitrogen: 90 lbs per acre pre-emerge, 54 lbs per acre sidedress. 28% UAN used in both applications. |
| Plot Size: ¼ and ½ mile long by 20 foot per variety. |
| Herbicides: ½ rate Guardsman Max pre-emerge, 24 ounce generic Round-Up. |
| Hybrids: All varieties were Round-Up Ready. |
| Location: Northeast Iowa. |
| RESULTS:
All but one hybrid responded with a higher yield due to the addition of GoldStart 6-24-6. Average yield increase was 5.54 bushel/acre. All hybrids responded with drier grain at harvest due to the addition of GoldStart 6-24-6. The average moisture decrease was nearly one full percentage point at 0.9%. |
